  2. If you receive an error message after performing the above regedit procedure then download these files YT561401.CAB & ZS561401.CAB from :
http://www.joshhoppe.com/store/Office%202003/ and put them in the MSOCache file. It worked for me. Best of luck.

  35. well, I have tried the cache to '0' thing which let me get a stage further but am now also stuck at the error: 1311, the file I am missing is named:Source file not found: C:\MSOCache\...............\ L4561403.cab
I have also tried the prottplv.doc, copy and rename as prottpln.doc but again the same error message, can anyone get past this stage?

  36. I had the same problem trying to upgrade to Office 2007.

I ejected the 2007 DVD and inserted my Office 2003 CD where the SKU011.CAB file is, then clicked on RETRY.

It didn't pop-up with another error after that and the progress bar wasn't moving any further, so I ejected and inserted my Office 2007 disk again and the installation carried on as normal.

If that doesn't work for you, have a look at the official Microsoft Knowledge Base posting:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818234/en-us

Their official recommendation is uninstalling 2003 first before upgrading.

  48. I'm using XP 64-bit pro with Office 2003. I have no sign of 'Office' in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE–>Software–>MicroSoft

    Anyone know why this is???

Also tried the renaming of PROTTPLV.DOC to no avail

Word and Outlook work fine. It is only Excel that has tried to install on run... ending in SKU011.CAB search

Have exact same install in XP 32-bit pro with no problems.

  61. Cleaned up my machine a bit too much, the Excel would not run anymore

After the CDCache change to 0 the 2 files YT561401.CAB & ZS561401.CAB were also needed.

    http://www.joshhoppe.com/store/Office%202003/ is NOT online anymore.

Found the files on esnips, easiest to search via Google as:
    esnips YT561401.CAB and
    esnips ZS561401.CAB

once these were in the MSOCache files list all was back to normal.

Then I got the 1311 error - but SP3 for Office 2003 fixed it!

  119. Can someone explain to me in layman terms what the solution entails?

    regedit -> [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE] -> [SOFTWARE] -> [Microsoft] -> [Office] -> [11.0] -> [Delivery] -> {90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9} -> [CDCache] change to [0] …. Done!

I have no idea what that means. Do I search for the folder named 'regedit' in my HD and then look for those subsequent folders? Or do I click 'run' and enter that copy and paste the whole sequence above like a command?

  120. thanks ken, your formula worked. i went into run from start and typed regedit and then followed your instructions.

    Paul

Goto START > RUN and type "Regedit", press ok.

Use the left hand side folder navigation (like you were looking for a file) to go to the location as listed above.

When you get there, In the right hand window you will see some options. One of them will be "CDCache". Double click on it and that will open up an edit box. Change the value to 0 and then press ok. - done!

  126. Hello -

    Love you all

I did Both the below and it cleared without problem - don't know which one did it but who cares?!!!

    I went into the C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\OFFICE11\1033 directory and There was a file
there named PROTTPLV.DOC. I copied it to my desktop and named the copy
PROTTPLN.DOC and that resolved my problem.

    I ALSO

    Start–>Run–>type regedit and press enter
on the left pane list select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE–>Software–>MicroSoft–>Office–>11.0–>Delivery .

There under delivery select your DownloadCode (32bit numeric value will be visible) on right pane , right click on CDCache. Change the Value to 0.

  127. Wow, Thanks a lot..
    The problem solved.

    ReplyDelete
  128. The regedit fix didn't work for me. BUT HERE IS WHAT DID:

Search on Google for the files your error message is saying you are missing (ZS561401.CAB &
YT561401.CAB can be found at Badongo.com; e2561410.cab can be found at esnips.com) and download them to your desktop.

    http://www.badongo.com/file/8313579
    http://www.badongo.com/file/8313603
    http://www.esnips.com/doc/cf4b5af4-6eda-461b-a1e2-c56c52c6c9dc/E2561410

Now, go to your C drive, and if you can't see a folder named "MSOcache" you need to go to the TOOLS dropdown menu, then select FOLDER OPTIONS. Then select the VIEW tab. Under "Hidden Files and Folders," select the circle next to "Show hidden files and folders."

Now should see the MSOcache folder. Now select, cut, and paste the files you downloaded into this folder. That was it for me! Finally, after weeks of trying Open Office workarounds, and countless annoying error messages, it's fixed! YEAH!!!

    Hi,

I was trying to uninstall some office components and the same "SKU011.CAB" error prevented the uninstall progress.
I followed the procedure mentioned above and it worked like magic.

  132. Hi Can anyone help

I am trying to install Office 2003 on a vista laptop that was using 2007. Word 2007 is still installed. The problem is that the install freezes at SKU011.CAB, with only Cancel as an option to rollback out of install.

I tried the fix in Regedit, but it doesn't have the full path from 11.0 to delivery etc. Is there a different directory structure and if so, which little file should I be changing to 0. Please help, I am wasting my life on this.

  154. My Dad had this problem... I tried everything I had seen on the internet, nothing worked. I finally found a log on the system which pointed me to the actual problem. The office source engine service was not running. To fix:

    1. Right Click on MyComputer, select manage
    2. Go to Services and Applications
    3. Find the service "Office Source Engine"
    4. Start the service

I also noticed that the service was set to manual... not sure if it should be or not, but I changed it to automatic.

    Good Luck everyone!

  155. If an earlier version of Office is currently installed and the option to keep the earlier Office version is selected, the earlier version of Microsoft Office Outlook is removed, and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 is installed unexpectedly.

Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
Click to select the earlier version of Office in the Currently installed programs list, and then click Change.
Click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next.
Click to select the Outlook check box, and then click Update.

  160. Hey!! mine works. Thanks Nicks and Michelle, What I've done was:
    1. Do the registry thing----> Failed
    2. Do the copy thing-----> Failed
    3. Eject the 2007 disc and inserted the 2003-----> Failed
    4. Try to download the above links------> Failed
    5. Try to do like Michelle said but mine was already started and my choice was to stop it. So, I stopped it and the pop up didn't come out anymore.
Then, I inserted the disc back in and the installation process continued !!!!!!!!! , Thanks you people.

and I got Excell Back. I have no idea why the file was missing and how changing the value from 2 to 0 works, but, hey, thank you all of you for taking time and posting such helpful tips. Hopefully, that will even help more people. The power of internet communities! Well done!

  177. I had to do BOTH of the fixes above.

First I did the Run Reg Edit fix and changed CDCache to "0" which is described above. Then when I tried to open Word I got the new error message which included my 32 digit office download ID (i.e. 90000409- etc) and then the next file that was missing.

Second, following the instructions on the previous post above from Chris on March 14, 2008, I googled esnips and that file name. Don't use the file names that Chris lists in his post, you have to use the file name from your second error message. Mine was IJ561401.CAB. I downloaded that file and saved it in C:, MSOCACHE (sometime a hidden folder so make sure you have options set to view hidden folders), All Users, the 32 digit office download ID (i.e. 90000409- etc).

It finally worked, after 6 months!!!
